PARENTS fighting to save a respite centre for disabled children are warning its closure would be “devastating” for families.
Alexandra House is one of eight centres across the county under threat of closure as Lancashire County Council seeks savings of £179m over the next three years.
The centre in Westbourne Drive, which opened 25 years ago, provides short breaks for young people with severe learning and physical disabilities and can accommodate up to five children overnight, giving parents much-needed respite.

ReplyDeleteMy name is Richard Garnett, and I am one of the appointed student officers at Lancaster and Morecambe College, as well as the chairman of the education cuts group within the collage. I wish to invite you to an event that the collage is planning.
students of Lancaster and Morecambe collage have attempted to do protests on the subject of the education cuts in city centres, but due to the fact that student can’t afford to lose EMA; there has not been a large turnout. This time we will be gathering at 12.15, in the collage itself, so that there is no effect to education to the students.
Staff, students and local residents will be invited to take part in a peaceful demonstration against the education cuts. We would like you to join in. We have invited the press and the local MP’S to see the demonstration, and are hoping to have a large amount of out-of-collage groups taking part.
